MY MP3s WEIGH A TON - Burlesque Design podcast

Mike 2600 gave me a shout recently to see if I wanted to possibly do a mix for the Burlesque Design podcast series, so I was like F*ck yes. I had already worked on a mix a few nights before that I was really into, so I decided to throw it his way and after the approval came the post.

The artwork for this mix was designed by our good friend Adam Garcia. You might remember him from his collaborations with Wezz on the Fall 2007 Arcade Fire poster series. Please visit him online at http://thepressure.org and http://thepressureisgoodforyou.blogspot.com

Here is the link to my mix as well as the series...

DEF JEF - SOUL FOOD

I first got introduced to Def Jef by coming across the promo 12 inch single to "Here We Go Again" from the debut follow up called Soul Food. In that find I found about 30 different classic Hip Hop 12 inches that included KMD's "Peach Fuzz" promo 12 and some Edo G pieces as well. I made a mixtape strictly from that one digging excursion, which I am trying to find a copy of to get have for you guys digitally. Anyway, according to wikipedia this album was a failure amongst the fans and critics alike. I found a CD copy of the album recently and decided to post the track that got me into Def Jef's ill smooth flow. Added bonus, youtube comes through with the video....

THE END OF WHITE AMERICA

As most of you know, I am officially addicted to Twitter. I was on it this morning and caught a cool tweet from URB magazine about an article in The Atlantic. Hua Hsu, formerly of URB magazine, wrote the article under the context of a shifting majority and minority in the US. With Obama going into office in just a few days, some are saying this is a major indication of what is to come. I am curious and am very excited to have witnessed this event happen.

Here is a link to the article...

TOP TINGS OF TWO THOUSAND AND EIGHT

So all the lists are out and we have read most of them. Reading through all the lists made me want to start an experiment this year. The experiment would go something like not allowing people to read pitchfork for the whole year and see what they would actually like instead of what they are told to like. Not to discredit the peeps at Pitchfork, but its funny to read the lists and everyone has the same joints as the last person. I am sure my tops were on some of their tops, but I dont really care about most music made these days either way. Read away...
